Critical Notice — Read Before Using WakaSafe

Important Notice
What WakaSafe is — and what it is not
WakaSafe is a personal safety and journey-monitoring application developed by Voddic LTD. It is designed to help users proactively share travel updates and emergency alerts with trusted emergency contacts via offline SMS — empowering families and friends to monitor the safety of their loved ones during travel in Nigeria and beyond.
However, it is critically important that every user fully understands the nature and limitations of this application before relying on it in any safety-related situation.
🚨
WakaSafe Is NOT Any of the Following
WakaSafe is not a law enforcement agency, not an emergency response provider, not a rescue service, not an ambulance dispatch system, not a security company, and not a government-operated safety service. It does not connect you to any of these services. It only sends SMS messages to contacts you have personally designated.
The application is a supplementary personal safety tool. It should always be used in conjunction with — never as a replacement for — good personal safety judgment and access to official emergency services.
🚑
No Guarantee of Emergency Response
The limitations of what WakaSafe can deliver
While WakaSafe is designed to send location updates, journey notifications, and SOS emergency alerts to your emergency contacts, Voddic LTD makes no guarantee of any outcome resulting from those communications.
The following outcomes are explicitly outside the scope of what WakaSafe guarantees or can control:
Outcome

⚠️
Take Reasonable Precautions
Users should always exercise reasonable personal safety precautions during travel. WakaSafe is a tool to increase the likelihood of help reaching you — it is not a guarantee that help will arrive. Inform your emergency contacts in advance that they are listed on your WakaSafe account and explain what receiving an alert means.
📡
Network & Technical Limitations
Factors that can affect WakaSafe's performance
WakaSafe relies on a combination of mobile network infrastructure, device hardware, GPS satellite availability, and in some features, internet connectivity. Many of these dependencies are outside Voddic LTD's control.
Delays, failures, or interruptions to WakaSafe's core functions may occur due to the following:
📶
Poor Network Coverage
SMS delivery relies on your carrier's signal. Rural areas, tunnels, or densely built environments may result in weak or no coverage.
🔄
Network Congestion
During peak usage periods or public emergencies, mobile networks may become congested, delaying or preventing SMS delivery.
📱
Device Malfunction
Hardware failures, software crashes, OS interruptions, or low battery conditions on your device can prevent WakaSafe from functioning correctly.
🛰️
GPS Signal Limitations
GPS accuracy is affected by your device's hardware, weather, surrounding terrain, tall buildings, and the availability of satellite signals.
⏱️
SMS Delivery Delays
SMS messages may be delayed in transit between carriers due to routing issues, capacity constraints, or international SMS handling.
🌐
Internet Outages
Features requiring internet connectivity may be unavailable during data outages, even though core SMS tracking continues to function offline.
ℹ️
What "Offline-First" Means
WakaSafe's core SMS location sharing feature is designed to work without an active internet/data connection. However, it still requires a basic mobile network signal (2G minimum) to transmit SMS messages. In areas with absolutely no mobile signal, no SMS can be sent regardless of data or offline capabilities.
👤
User Responsibility
What you are responsible for as a WakaSafe user
By using WakaSafe, you accept full responsibility for ensuring the application is configured correctly and used appropriately. The effectiveness of WakaSafe's safety features depends significantly on how well you manage the following:
01
Provide Accurate Journey Information
Enter correct and truthful origin, destination, vehicle details, and plate number when starting a journey. Inaccurate information reduces the usefulness of your updates to emergency contacts.
02
Maintain Sufficient Airtime Balance
WakaSafe sends SMS messages directly from your SIM card. You must maintain adequate airtime or SMS credits throughout your journey. A depleted airtime balance will prevent location updates from being sent.
03
Keep Emergency Contact Information Up to Date
Regularly verify that the phone numbers saved as emergency contacts are active, correct, and belong to people who understand their role and will respond to alerts.
04
Keep Your Device Charged and Operational
WakaSafe cannot function on a dead device. Ensure your phone is adequately charged before and during journeys, particularly long-distance travel. Consider carrying a power bank.
05
Use the Application Lawfully
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of WakaSafe complies with all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations, including the Nigeria Communications Act and the Cybercrimes Act.
06
Safeguard Your PINs
Your start PIN, end PIN, and distress PIN must be memorised and kept strictly confidential. Voddic is not responsible for consequences arising from lost, forgotten, or shared PINs.
🆘
Emergency Situations
What to do in life-threatening circumstances
🚨
In a Life-Threatening Emergency — Contact Authorities First
WakaSafe's SOS feature notifies your personal emergency contacts only. It does not connect to the police, ambulance services, NEMA, or any government emergency response system. In any situation where life is at risk, your first action should always be to contact the appropriate emergency authorities if at all possible.
WakaSafe should never be considered a replacement for any of the following:
🚔Police assistance — Nigeria Police Force Emergency: 199
🏥Medical assistance — National Emergency Management: 112
🚒Fire and rescue services — Available through state emergency management agencies
🛡️Professional security services — Contracted security firms or estate security
🏛️Government emergency agencies — NEMA and state equivalents
💡
Best Practice for Travelers
Use WakaSafe alongside — not instead of — saving local emergency numbers in your phone. Brief your emergency contacts in advance about what WakaSafe alerts mean and what actions they should take when they receive one. A prepared emergency contact is a more effective one.
📍
Location Accuracy
Understanding the limitations of GPS data
WakaSafe transmits your GPS coordinates in each location update SMS. However, the accuracy of this location data depends on a range of factors outside of Voddic's control, and location information may not always be precise or current.
The following conditions can significantly reduce GPS accuracy:
Neither you nor your emergency contacts should make critical safety decisions based exclusively on the location data transmitted by WakaSafe. Treat shared coordinates as an approximate indicator, not an exact position. GPS accuracy can range from a few metres to several hundred metres depending on conditions.
💳
Subscription Services
What paid plans do and do not guarantee
WakaSafe offers subscription plans that unlock access to the full range of safety features. Purchasing a subscription enhances your experience and enables active journey tracking, but it does not alter the fundamental technical limitations described in this disclaimer.
Specifically, a paid WakaSafe subscription does NOT guarantee:
🚫Continuous or uninterrupted service availability at all times
🚫Delivery of any specific SMS, notification, or emergency alert
🚫A minimum level of mobile network performance or coverage
🚫A response from any emergency contact or emergency service
🚫Specific GPS accuracy thresholds
🚫Immunity from technical failures, bugs, or service downtime
ℹ️
Planned Maintenance & Downtime
Voddic LTD may periodically perform maintenance on the WakaSafe backend infrastructure. Where possible, we will notify users in advance via in-app notification. Subscription periods are not automatically extended to account for planned maintenance windows unless the downtime is significant and prolonged.
⚖️
